WIlls:
After you have provided for your family and friends, we hope you will consider donating part of your estate to BE KIDS. There are various ways of arranging this and BE KIDS suggests that you speak to your solicitor.
Residuary bequest:
This is the easiest way to leave money to a charity. A Residuary Legacy is usually shown as a percentage of what is left of your estate, once your dependants have been provided for and all expenses and debts have been covered. This is the best possible gift you can leave―it is not eroded by inflation and you should not have to alter your Will if your circumstances change. The following is an example:
I give........% share of the residue of my estate to BE KIDS (AUSTRALIA) INC, to be used for its general charitable purposes, and I declare that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.
Pecuniary or cash legacy:
This is a specific amount of money. It is vital that you index-link your pecuniary donation to inflation to make sure that the real value of your gift will not decrease over time. The following is an example:
I give free of tax to BE KIDS (AUSTRALIA) INC, the sum of.......for its general charitable purposes, and I declare that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.
Specific gift:
This is an item that has a financial or sentimental value that you would like someone to have. It can be just as valuable to BE KIDS as a sum of money. The following is an example:
I give.......(write here whatever you wish to give) to BE KIDS (AUSTRALIA) INC, to be used for its general charitable purposes, and I declare that the receipt of their Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge.
